Power supply for drive and auxiliary systems
Locomotives and railcars need reliable and safe electrical power. The power for this is produced using a diesel generator on board or fed in to the vehicle from above from an overhead line or third rail. These drive systems on board the locomotives or railcars are normally ungrounded and therefore need to be safeguarded by means of a special ground-fault monitoring device. Bender ground-fault monitoring devices come in a rail RW variant to meet the specific requirements in terms of shock, vibration and temperature-resistance. Grounded power supplies can be protected via residual current monitors and voltage relays.
